Link to SAPRO and US Defense Department

Here’s a link to the US Department of Defense’s website that is committed to responding to sexual abuse in the military. The site contains a newsletter for April 2007. There is some pretty interesting data in the newsletter, and an address to which readers can respond.

2001 Rape Statistics in the U.S. Military for Men and Women

On the U.S. defense department website there is an article, which sites that: “Officials estimate about three-tenths of a percent of men will be sexually assaulted while serving in the military — compared to 8 percent of women.” The total number of women serving in the military in 2001 was 199,850 according to this website.
